The End of One Chapter But the Start of Another

Of Fashion...

So today was the last day of my fashion internship at Lipstick Prophets. I started the day by dropping off a rack of clothing to Calvin Rucker's new building office a few blocks down from our building. Their new building is still being renovated but it looks nice (Pictures at the bottom). The air conditioning is amazing too especially in this LA weather lately. The rest of the day was very relaxing. I also installed an air conditioning unit in Ali's office. At the end of the day, I said goodbye to everyone and they all wished me luck in my future. I do hope I get the chance to come back and visit them. I was also offered a chance to intern with Calvin Rucker and hopefully my schedule will allow me to work with them in the future.

Of Food...

I started my first day eating LA Cafe and I also ended by eating LA Cafe again. Today I ordered the Cheese Steak Panini. Although it was not as good as I hoped, it was filling enough for me to be satisfied. It also came with a side of chips which were just as good as I remembered.

The end is near...

Of Fashion...

Today was very busy and hectic. The moment I walked in, I was sent out on errands to pick up materials from different places. This by itself took up half the day already walking around fashion district. The rest of the day I helped out Joie clean out her material storage room and running more errands in between. I was also offered a paid internship with her and Calvin Rucker when she found out that Thursday will be my last day at Lipstick Prophets. She was on her way out but she wants to discuss it more on Thursday when I come in. I look forward to learning more and expanding my knowledge about fashion.

Of Science...

I finished my first week at Target and I have to say everyone there is very nice. It also gets very busy so there isnt too much time to talk with each other but I do get the chance to chat with some of the customers which I enjoy. I am learning a lot more and doing a lot more compared to my other pharmacy job. Today I finalized my pharmacy school apps and I am ready to send them out. Wish me luck!

Of Food...

As I walked throughout fashion district, I kept seeing the hot dog carts which made me crave the hot dog. If you are ever in LA, the hot dog carts are a definite must try experience. When you order it, get all the toppings to go with it. They also come with chips and a soda. All I can say is that it is a must try! Gaiene, our other pattern maker offered me some candy which was very subtle in taste but good. It was something different from your usual candy. It is only available at Sur La Table which is a gourmet food place. Ill have to stop by to get me some.

Half eaten. Couldnt wait to eat

Half day!

Of Fashion...

Today I only worked half day because I got called in to cover someones shift at Target. I didnt do much except help Kyle talk to one of the brands who came in to check up on her styles. I helped her sort and separate what needed to be done. And just made sure everything was going according to plan. The clothing itself are beautiful and I cant wait to see the finished products.

Of Science...

I filled in for someone who was sick and had to go home. Very busy day and it just seemed like everyone coming in was not having a good day. I hope people understand what we have to do in the pharmacy is not as easy as just filling the medication. Other things need to be done such as checking insurance and making sure the medication you are receiving is correct. We also have to hand count to make sure you are receiving the proper amount and everything needs to be double checked before it gets sent out. Yes, we try our best to work as fast as we can but there are other prescriptions that need to be filled too. And each prescription takes time. So next time you go to a pharmacy, please bear with the wait time and understand what we have to do.

Of Food...

Today Ali and I went back to the Fresh Panini place below us again. Since they just opened we gave them some suggestions on how they could fix their food and make it more delicious. They took our feedback and made the necessary changes. I can say the Panini tastes much better than the other day. Today I ordered #2 and split half my panini with Kyle who ordered the #1. I also got to try the Olive bread this time and I have to say it is very delicious. So far my favorite has to be the #2. If you ever get the chance to come here, get your order with the Olive Bread.

Messenger Boy

Of Fashion...

Today, Kyle was out of town so I filled in his shoes for the day. I ran to different parts of the building to pick up and drop off a lot of the styles that we sent out to be done. It was cool being able to see the different parts of the streets from different points of view (Ill be posting photos at the bottom). In between each run, I helped out in the other areas as well. I helped with cutting and pattern making. One cool thing is that we are working on an outfit for Zooey Deschanel for her show New Girl. The pattern we are making is based off of a beautiful Marc by Marc Jacobs dress.

Of Science...

I finished my orientation for Target yesterday and I will start working in the pharmacy tomorrow. Im excited to start since everyone there seems to be very nice so far. The people working in the back are also all very nice.

Of Food...

There was a new place that opened up right downstairs of our building and next to the Juice Crafters called Fresh Panini. They are currently having a soft opening special with $5 for each panini ($5.45 with tax). They currently have 5 different sandwiches to choose from and two types of bread, the plain and olive bread. I ordered #4 which is the Portabello Mushrooms, Avacado, Red Onion, Roasted Red Peppers, Cucumber, Extra Virgin Olive oil and Balsamic Vinegar. The sandwich itself was pressed very thin and the ingredients were out of proportion. For most of the meal all I tasted was the Red Peppers. Ali also tried the same sandwich yesterday and did not like that her bread was soggy. The first half I ate was perfect but the second half of the panini was very soggy. Overall, it was an okay panini but I would be willing to go back after a while and after they have more experience with making their paninis.
